• Coordinate all Professional, Administrative and Financial matters in the District;
• Pilots all departments and Schools and also has the responsibility of overseeing the affairs of the Education District.
• Makes sure all staff adheres strictly to the Public Service Rule in the District for efficiency and effectiveness.
• The Office delegates power to various departments to carry out different functions and also restructures various departments and units when the need arises.
• The Office inaugurates statutory committees which drives the accomplishment of the District’s mission.
• The office has the responsibility of protecting the property of the government as the reporting Office.
• The Office also pioneer government policies and also sees that they are being maintained. All other departments in the District reports to the Office of the Tutor General/Permanent Secretary.
• Prepare for the District, annual estimates and established proposals to be submitted to the House of Assembly for approval;
• Perform in the District such other functions as may be conferred from time to time by the Governor in relation to Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff of Post-Primary Schools in the District;
• Constantly review and forward proposals to the Commissioner for modifications in operational methods and organizational structure of the State Teaching Service;
• Attend to and treat all petitions from all Schools and Colleges mentioned in Section 16 of this Law concerning appointments, promotion, study leave matters, discipline and other matters, subject to uniform guidelines and directives of the Commissioner as approved by the Governor
